Prince Mehandiratta is in our spotlight this month. In his two years as a Controls Engineer at Patti Engineering, Prince has also worked as a Lead Control Engineer on several projects, including commissioning an Assembly line station using Fanuc robotic technology, PLC programmable controllers, and Ignition. He's also worked with us on several stations for different auto manufacturers and managed the Controls Supervision function for a medical company's packaging operation. In addition to engineering solutions to client problems, his daily work has also included updating electrical schematics using AUTOCAD and designing simulations utilizing SIEMENS Plant Sim to optimize client plant performance.
“Prince is a terrific engineer,” said Sam Hoff, CEO. “His intellectual curiosity consistently leads to him finding elegant solutions to our clients issues. Prince also takes great advantage of his travels to our customer’s sites by exploring the different areas of our great country.”
Born in a small town called Modinagar in Uttar Pradesh, Prince was born to entrepreneurial parents who started a business called Prince Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and a retail appliance store Kashishi Enterprises, named after his sister. Growing up, Prince learned not only the ins and outs of business but also about engineering. After school, Prince would help out at his namesake store, which provided repair, installation and integration services. Prince's parents were able to open a second, larger retail store, which still flourishes today, and Prince continues to provide business support to the retail locations from here.
Prince's early interest in engineering led him to earn a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering at SRM University and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University. While completing his studies, he also worked as a teaching assistant in courses that cover many areas of his work now, including Introduction to PLC, Fanuc Robots, and Electrical Machinery.
Reflecting on his time here at Patti Engineering, Prince has shared that not only does he find it satisfying to work on projects that push his boundaries. He also finds himself inspired by our founders. "Looking at Sam and Patti," he says. "Starting their career together, being married for these many years, learning and growing together and running the business together is something very inspiring to me."
Prince is a travel enthusiast, having visited multiple states in the U.S., as well as Dubai and Canada. He particularly enjoys backpacking and downhill skiing, both of which he has done in Canada. He's vlogged from his various destinations and looks forward to doing so again in his downtime. He keeps himself current with the latest trends, whether in IIoT or robotics, with a copious amount of reading, listening and learning. He complements his continuous education in engineering by reading and listening to podcasts about theology, philosophy, and business. His compassion can also be found in his ardor for several causes, including human rights, environmentalism, and animal rights, which he's supported through volunteering with several related-NGOs.
