Patti Perspective October 2019

Hi there,

Happy Halloween!

Does the idea of adding a robot to your facility sound like a trick or a treat to you?  In some cases, a robot can be a great way to improve production and reduce costs in the long run.  But if it's not utilized correctly, it can be more hassle and cost that it's worth.  How do you decide?  We have a Robot Return on Investment (ROI) checklist for you to use today.

In our spotlight, we have newlyweds!  Connie LeMarbe (now Connie Sadro) and Patti Engineering alum Nick Sadro tied the knot earlier this month.

If robots are on your mind, don't miss the robot specification webinar and ROBOGUIDE simulation demo below!

Robot ROI Checklist

Are you making a smart decision about adding robots to your facility?

A common misconception about Robot Return on Investment (ROI) is that labor cost savings achieves an acceptable payback period.  This is often not the case – simply replacing a human operator with a robot is not always a smart decision.  A robot needs to fit into the full picture of your production line strategy and provide benefits and cost savings in multiple areas.

But that doesn’t mean that robots aren’t worth the cost.  There are many situations in which adding a robot provides a return on investment very quickly.  They key is to consider all of the hidden savings and benefits that a robot can provide.

We’re breaking these down into three areas: Human, Production, and Additional Savings.  Download the full checklist below to help you decide if a robot is right for your facility.

Human

There are many situations in which a human operator is best to run a station.  But a robot might be a better fit if you have concerns in any of the following areas:

  • Reallocate operators to other areas
  • Ergonomics
  • Reducing safety risks
  • Reducing operator error

Production

An improvement in production quantity and/or quality can reduce costs and improve revenue. Adding a robot could provide the following benefits:

  • Increase throughput
  • Decrease cycle time
  • Increase quality control
  • Reducing change over time
  • Combining tasks/stations

Additional savings

There may be other savings to consider in reducing potential costs, such as:

  • Reducing cell footprint/Increasing floor space
  • Replacing other hardware

If you’re considering adding a robot, download the full Robot ROI Checklist to make sure you’re considering all of the ways a robot could benefit your facility.

Introducing Mrs. and Mr. Sadro!

Connie_Nicks_Wedding

Earlier this month, controls engineer and recent Engineering Leader Under 40 Connie LeMarbe married Patti Engineering alum Nick Sadro.  The beautiful event was attended by many Patti colleagues past and present. Nick and Connie met at Patti Engineering in 2016.

Teammate Phil McRoberts' son and daughter were the ring bearer and flower girl for the ceremony.

It was a full circle moment, hearkening back to 28 years ago when CEO Sam Hoff, recently laid off but determined not to be unemployed on his own wedding day, started Patti Engineering.  It was just three weeks before he married his wife Patti, the company's namesake.

Congratulation to the new Sadros!  May you also enjoy decades of happiness!
