Employee Spotlight: Matt Shewell

Meet Matt Shewell, Director of Senior Engineering at Patti Engineering, leading a dynamic team of senior engineers in our Michigan office. With a versatile skill set, Matt also takes on the roles of project manager and electrical engineer, bringing a wealth of experience to each project he touches.

Matt’s Patti Engineering Journey:

Matt started his current position in February 2022, when he returned to Patti Engineering as a senior electrical engineer/project manager. Previously from 1997 to 2004, Matt excelled as both an electrical engineer and a senior electrical engineer at Patti Engineering, which paved the way for his current leadership role. 

Matt has been instrumental in several significant projects, showcasing his expertise in his contributions to the Siemens Lift eXplore demo line in Detroit. He’s also been a valuable project manager on several robot projects and strives to be a trusted advisor to our end user clients.

“I enjoy the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects in many different industries. A lot of other controls engineering roles in Metro Detroit are 100% automotive, but at Patti Engineering I get the opportunity to work with a vast range of technologies,” said Shewell. “I also enjoy the ability to wear a lot of different hats, sometimes I’m a manager, sometimes a project manager, and sometimes I’m the engineer on the job.” 

Education and Beyond: 

Matt's roots trace back to Livonia and Farmington Hills, MI. He currently resides in West Bloomfield, MI, where he's an active member of the community and a proud Michigander. Matt earned his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Tech in 1995, laying the foundation for his successful career in the field.

When he's not immersed in engineering excellence, Matt's interests take him outdoors. Golfing, kayaking, and bicycling are among his favorite hobbies. He's an avid sports fan, passionately supporting the Lions and Tigers.

Matt's dedication, versatility, and passion make him an invaluable asset to the Patti Engineering family. His commitment to excellence and his multifaceted approach to projects are truly commendable.
